Text Shadow

txt-shad

A number indicating the strength of a shadow to place on the text.

The default is no shadow, and the range is from 0 – 10. Use txt-shad[N] to override this for a specific text layer — bare txt-shad applies to every layer by default.

Offset Shadows

Setting txt-shad-blur switches the shadow to the style the Video API uses: txt-shad then becomes a down-and-right offset in pixels rather than a shadow strength, the shadow is drawn in opaque black, and txt-shad-blur sets the blur radius.

A shadow drawn together with txt-line is now drawn beneath the outline. It was previously dropped without warning, so a URL that set both gains a shadow it did not have before.

Strength or a Fraction

A whole number is a shadow strength as described above, or a pixel offset in offset mode. A decimal written with a dot from 0 to 1 inclusive is read as a fraction of the font size instead, in both modes, so txt-shad=0.8 scales with the text rather than staying fixed. In offset mode, txt-shad=0.1 on 100 px text is a 10 px offset. The same rule applies to txt-line and txt-lead.
